We shall open with the simple fact that as renowned specialized doctors, we don’t really know what unique substance inside the Dead Sea mud has such a dramatic impact on our skin health. An assumption holds that it is an archaebacterial bacteria that survives in the Dead Sea water who has the beneficial impact on our skin health. The Bacteria’s orange color is rich in antioxidant. But this assumption isn’t enough to fully explain its virtues. The fact that the Dead Sea mud has an impact on the skin and its health, and has the ability of making miracles to different skin disorders, is undisputed. Arthritis, Psoriasis and Rheumatoid patients often use Dead Sea mud to relieve the symptoms of their diseases.
Below, a partial list of the minerals and salts present in the Dead Sea mud and its products:
- Magnesium- contributes to energy production and protein synthesis.
- Zinc- improves the synthesis of Collagen and Elastin, contributes to cellular regeneration, helps preventing acne by improving sebum secretion, helps preventing inflammations, and more.
- Potassium- prevents dry skin and acne.
- Sodium- contributes to cellular metabolism and keeps the fluid balance between the cells and their surroundings.
- Calcium- takes major part in protecting the cells.
- Strontium- prevents itching and sooths irritations in case of Dermatitis (may be caused by using synthetic cosmetic products on regular basis).
- Bromine- soothes and heals the skin.
- Boron- helps soothing Arthritis and Psoriasis symptoms.
- Sulfur (responsible for the mud’s strong smell) – This mineral dissolves the outer layer of the skin, the Epidermis. It burns a little, but thanks to this dissolving an accelerated regeneration of cells occurs. In addition, the mud absorbs superfluous fluids from the skin. The effect of increased sweating releases toxins from the body and cleans the skin and the blood. Our capillaries are strengthening thanks to the Manganese mineral, and thus we contribute to accelerating cell regeneration. The clay inside the mud does the final peeling while removing the mud.
